Why are you afraid? Why am I?
Why do past shadows masquerade as our future? Why do we hesitate to open an official looking envelope? Why do we panic as we wait for the email, the text, the phone, to be answered? Why do we chose silence when we desire words? Why do we answer, “just fine,” while our hearts beg, “please help?” Why do we close our arms when we long to embrace? Why do we pull back from what we are offered? Why won’t we offer what we have?
Why are we afraid?
If we dare ask, we must dare hear our reply. Mine doesn’t change, “I will be abandoned.” And as before I hear His answer, “I care.”
Far be it from me to not believe *
Even when my eyes can’t see
And this mountain that’s in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea
Through it all, …
My eyes are on You
Through it all, …
It is well
So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name

Why? I would say because of the unknown… but we shouldn’t be afraid of anything, we have a mighty God. He tell us to fear not…

…and Michelle, I’m really encouraged that He says “fear not” so many times in scripture… that tells me that He knows we WILL fear and need the reminder of His greatness.
So, when we fear, are we just being “normal?” 🙂

Why are we afraid? Hmm… Because we anticipate what our human hearts imagine happening next. Fortunately God is so much bigger and has better plans than we could ever create. We see the unscalable mountains. He throws them into the sea, clearing the way.

Interesting use of “anticipate.” Anticipation seems fun when something we think is positive is approaching. But when we anticipate the bad, anticipation becomes a slave driver beating us with fear.

And we’re oh-so good at anticipating worst case scenarios. Or maybe that’s just me. 😀
