(from the journal of the un-rhyming, un-metered poet)
son
you are in
the quiet battle
where the
enemy presses
hard
this warfare
you are called to
is not that
which
the world
honors
you often
can fight
only by choosing
to rest,
standing in
Who I AM
battles
are fought
in darkness,
loneliness
yet My Light
remains
dark battles
cause you
to feel alone
but fellow warriors
do fight in
this same conflict
you may not
see the others
but I do
I set them to
battle alongside
for you
even as I have
set you
to fight for others;
its not only for
yourself
you stand
son,
listen carefully;
Thank you
for standing
in quiet battle
where no one sees
your silent battle
matters;
your stand
shows
My enemy
his loss
Our enemy’s
defeat is revealed
by his own lie
that you are
alone;
Because in your quietness
I AM
