A couple who I consider to be my closest friends are celebrating their anniversary. Today’s post is for them. (But you can read it too, if you want!)
Dear friends,
(Not sure how you’d feel about me using your names; you know who you are!!!)
It’s no secret that I tend to wax sentimental with the approach of significant days. (For instance…. National Gummy Worm Day!!!) This week I’ve been reflecting on the many facets of the friendship I enjoy with both of you.
- You accepted me, when it would have been far easier (and probably have felt safer) for you to have kept your distance.
- You’ve offered comfort when I was hurting.
- When I was sick, you took me in to your home to care for my physical needs.
- You’ve recognized and encouraged my strengths and gifts.
- You’ve not ridiculed my weaknesses.
- You’ve stood alongside as I’ve faced fears.
- By your example, you’ve taught me to better know the Father-heart of God.
You’ve given me permission to cry and freedom to laugh.
As I think about the two of you, (and about your family) I’m reminded of God’s words. Words I believe He will one day speak to both of you.
“Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
Although there’s much more I could say, I’ll conclude with this… I’m blessed to be your friend.
Happy Anniversary.
