Hey guys. This is NOT a giveaway, but I still want to tell you about Phil Wickham’s first LP in three years, CHILDREN OF GOD.
Wickham admits that his writing had “become this mundane thing – more of a job than a passion….I needed a personal awakening.”
That personal awakening came after being diagnosed with a vocal polyp in 2014. He needed surgery, faced a lengthy recovery process, and the possibility that he would not be able to continue singing professionally.
After receiving this life-changing news, Wickham went into a time of prayer, seeking God’s peace and clarity.
“There have only been a few times in my life where I felt, undeniably, His voice speaking to me. This was one of them…. He said my identity is not in what I do, but it’s in who He says I am. He said ‘I’m your father. You’re my child. Trust me.'”
Thankfully Wickham’s surgery was successful and his recovery time shorter than expected. And to God’s glory, he is singing again.
Children of God comes out of the reawakened sense of identity that Wickham found following his prayer-encounter with his Father.
This CD is full of joyful sounds of praise, as well as heartfelt worship. (I am especially moved by the rendition of the timeless “Doxology.”)
The single “Your Love Awakens Me” marks this project’s driving passion; a heart set free to be, not because of self-effort or because of other’s praise, but because of living from God-given identity.
