A friend and fellow blogger has suggested that several of us share “Five Things You May Not Know About Me” on our sites.
So here goes. You may not know that…
1. I didn’t meet my oldest brother until I was 18 months old.
He was serving overseas in the US Army when I was born. He enjoys telling that after he came home, I stood in a corner and studied him for a couple days. Figuring out whether or not he was “OK”. (Turns out he was.)
2. I taught college.
(OK, in a really small, church-run college.) The majority of the students were from foreign countries. This created some challenges. Like the time I was grading tests and discovered answers written in Romanian!
3. If you ask me to do something that I’m afraid to try, I may respond by saying “I’m not interested in __________.”
For an example, click here. And here too.
4. If money were no object, I’d oversee the redesign and renovation of old buildings into luxury homes, apartments, and condos.
When I was a child and teen (ummm and maybe older!) I would lose myself by renovating buildings in my mind. I would pour over magazines to help me develop ideas. I would eye abandoned houses, ancient barns, and empty department stores as canvas’ for my imagination to transform.
(And if I’m ever in your house, I guarantee that at some point I will be thinking about where a wall could be knocked out, a window added, or an expansive two-story great room added on.)
5. I want a tattoo.
I have two designs in mind. Either would be a conversation starter for sharing my faith story. And I’ve had the money set aside for several years. Just having some commitment issues….
(Glad this is a Five Things post, otherwise number 6 would probably have to be about commitment issues!)
Isn’t life better now that you know these things??? I thought so!!! Seriously, taking on this fun assignment has reminded me how awesome it is that God creates us with such a variety of interests and story lines. We are so unique in the little details that help shape who we are and how we interact with life. I’d love to hear what might be on your “5 Things” list!
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well. Psalms 139: 14
